Description:
For this lesson we used techniques like slab building, slip and score, texture plates, stencil, and coil building to create our own functioning lamps. |
Process:
In this lesson, we started off with an ideation page to think about what light means, where we would put our lamps, who it is for, and what it will look like. Once we had made a plan, we began building our lamps. Once they were complete, we fired them in the kiln. When they came out, we glazed or painted them according to our plan. Finally, we were able to put lighting equipment through the top to have the light work! To finish our lamp shades, we used gold foil to add some flare to our finished product and used texture plates, exacto knives, and pencils to add textures and light cut outs to create patterns on the wall when it's lit up. Finally, we attached it all together by manipulating wire to hold up our shades. |
