Oil Pastel Desserts

Description:

In this lesson we explored a new material of pastels!  Some students recieved oil in their kits and others recieved chalk.  We talked about the pros and cons of each and ended up creating a tasty dessert drawing in the end.
Process:

We started out with an ideation page that got us thinking about our favorite treats and what makes them our favorites.  Once we had that in mind, we looked up images of those treats to use as reference images.

Then we sketched them on our ideation sheets or in our sketch books.  Using those images, we tried out 3 possible techniques to help us create a realistic still life drawing of our dessert.

Once we had those steps down, we moved into creating our still lifes on a 12" x 12" piece of paper.  In the end, we had tasty images to show to the school!
